In the last few days, the hustle and bustle of the holiday season ended, leaving most of us greeting our normal routine once again. With the void of the holiday excitement, we find ourselves with uninterrupted time to do an in-depth reflection on our own individual life. In a language understood by all women, it is now time for “me.” This is the not the same type of self-analysis that we experience on a New Year’s Eve or the day that follows. This is an in-depth quest for answers and guidance to a question that plaques the mind of women day after day, “Am I really okay?”

During one of the final days of 2009, I had the pleasure of interviewing Tonya Somers, a world-known and well-received clairvoyant, entrepreneur and owner of www.morethangems.com. In her own personal reflection of 2009, Somers revealed that many of her clients had become so overwhelmed with anxiety that both emotional and physical symptoms had occurred. She interjected that while it is important that individuals acknowledge both their emotional and physical pain, “Individuals must learn to take ownership of their health. With ownership of anything, comes responsibility. For instance, if you own an automobile, you must take care of it. In order for it to work properly, you must perform routine maintenance. The same thing is true for both our physical and emotional health. In order to embrace the year 2010 and all that it has to offer, individuals must be diligent and concentrate on these areas.”

Because of the entanglements Somers saw her clients wrestling with, she wanted to provide a means for her clients, as well as others, to have physical and emotional empowerment twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Because of her passion and dedication to others, she formed www.morethangems.com, a site that offers beautiful healing gems centered in exquisite jewelry pieces. Although gem sites are common, Somers’ www.morethangems.com site adds a non-tangible gift with ever purchase that is as unique and personal as Somers herself. “I wanted to provide a site in which people could purchase beautiful yet affordable healing gem pieces. For the past thirty years, I have incorporated gems as an integral part of the work that I do. Healing gems have the ability to calm down the mind thus opening the doors for things people seek such as love, money and good health. Gems have a sterling reputation for creating positive energy. Something that we all need,” said Somers. “The gems that I offer are one of a kind. I purchase them exclusively from one source and never more than ten at a time.”

Although Somers would not openly disclose what her gift is and how it incorporated into each piece, she did ensure that individuals selecting gems from her site would receive a special non-physical element in addition to their purchase. “Before I send out any order, I do extensive and special work on the piece. I always have the buyer in mind and connect with the buyer spiritually. It is not as if when someone orders something, I just mail it out. I spend a lot of time with each piece before mailing it, concentrating intently and specifically on the buyer. My customers are not only getting a beautiful piece of jewelry, they are receiving a special gift from me as well.” While being clairvoyant is a natural part of Somers, she admits that some people are still cautious of her gift. “For those individuals who want to purchases pieces from my site, yet are uncomfortable receiving my blessings, then those individuals are able to do that as well,” said Somers. “I respect those individuals who may be reluctant. I would never force my gift and talents on anyone. However, for those individuals that are open, my gift is there for you to have.”

It is Somers’ hope that her site www.morethangems.com provides more to buyers than just an opportunity to own a beautiful piece of jewelry. “Each month, I change the front page changes to reflect that month’s birthstone. In addition, the website includes valuable information concerning each stone that I offer. There is a special section dedicated to providing information concerning the balancing and healing abilities of each stone. I find that most individuals limit themselves to only wearing pieces of jewelry that reflect their birthstones. Women need to consider all the stones as they each have different healing properties,” said Somers. “For instance, the birthstone of July is a Ruby gem that is a vibrant red. Red is a color that is good for both migraines and malignant tumors. It improves blood circulation and vitality, reduces anemia and provides vitamin B12. This stimulating color is not only good for courage, but also for an individual’s self-confidence, which I find individuals greatly need. I recommended that everyone wear some type of jewelry consisting of rubies twenty-four seven for protection. If buyers only purchase jewelry specific to their birthstones, then for instance those individuals not born in July would not experience the healings afforded by a red gem,” stated Somers.

While Somers stated that her website initially offered designer handbags at wholesale cost in addition to the gems and other products, she concluded by stating that she would no longer offer designer bags or other purses after her original inventory sells. “I want to concentrate primarily on empowering individuals to take ownership of both their emotional and physical health. The gems that I provide, coupled with the work that I do, will allow individuals the opportunity to control the reins that are currently steering their life and move them in a direction that they want, and in fact so much deserve. This is my gift to everyone.”
